Judicial Advocacy

This year we will be continuing our participation in judicial advocacy efforts. In an effort to demonstrate our commitment to change in the judicial system, we have implemented a structured Advocacy Team, consisting of an Amicus Curiae Program and a White Paper Program.

The goals of the Advocacy Team are to educate our membership about these important programs and to advocate for important changes in the judicial and governmental settings.
If you would like more information, please contact Jonathan Evans, Judicial Advocacy Specialist, at judicial@nblsa.org.

Make sure you register for Hill Day to implement the advice!

Fisher v. University of Texas-Austin will decide whether the Court's decisions interpreting the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, including Grutter v. Bollinger, permit the University of Texas at Austin's use of race in undergraduate admissions. The National Black Law Students Association joins the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) and New York Law School's Racial Justice Project in Amicus Curiae brief to U.S. Supreme Court for this case.
