The National Black Law Students Association Congratulates Mitch Landrieu's Election as New Orleans Mayor(2/15/2010) Washington, D.C. - As New Orleans continues in a spirit of revelry and prosperity, the National Black Law Students Association would like to congratulate Mitch Landrieu on his election as the mayor of New Orleans. In early January NBLSA made its annual trip to New Orleans for our organizations Katrina Advocacy Week, part of which entailed participating in a mayoral candidacy debate. Mayor Landrieu stood out of one the frontrunners in the election for the city's mayor, centering his platform on post Katrina rejuvenation of New Orleans. "Mitch Landrieu's election as Mayor is one that is well received within our organization, and we look forward to witnessing the plans that mayor Landrieu has for the city come to fruition," stated by NBLSA chair Tiffany Munsell. Though NBLSA lends its organization support to any particular political candidate, the organization extends its best wishes to the newly elected mayor in hopes that with his efforts we can continue to help effectuate the change that NBLSA sees that the city needs and rightly deserves. The National Black Law Students Association, founded in 1968, is a national organization formed to articulate and promote the needs and goals of Black law students and effectuate change in the legal community. As the largest student run organization in the United States with over 7000 members, NBLSA is also comprised of chapters or affiliates in six different countries, including the Bahamas, Nigeria and South Africa. ### Contact: |
