Ashanti Scholar Partnership

NBLSA is proud to announce a new partnership with Ashanti Scholar! Through this partnership, our chapters will be able to receive discount rates on products offered through the Ashanti Scholar website to include customizable kente cloth graduation stoles, and many other products at a discount rate for our NBLSA members!

We are also happy to announce a "limited edition" NBLSA branded kente cloth graduation stole through Ashanti Scholar! Please view below for further information as you consider making a purchase of a product from Ashanti Scholar.

Background on Ashanti Scholar:

Ashanti Scholar is a social enterprise founded in 2018. Through the sale of graduation Kente stoles and other products created from African textiles, we hope to redefine the image of the academic scholar.

Social Impact:
One area of priority for Ashanti Scholar is our social impact. We use the sale of stoles to provide income for local artisans in Ghana as well as reinvest profits into the Ashanti region. After the 2018 graduation season, we awarded the Yaa Asantewaa Scholarship of Excellence to a JD/MBA student sitting for the New York bar exam. Moving forwarded, we will focus our energies towards the Obuasi Girl’s Project.

This initiative was developed after consulting with regional locals about the high rates of young children, especially young girls, who are forced to drop out of school. These young children are often forced to leave school because they lack basic resources such as school supplies and uniforms. Additionally, many girls are prohibited from attending school due to a lack of appropriate hygiene and sanitation management facilities. Ashanti Scholar will use partial profits to address these issues and support local schools in Obuasi to ensure young girls stay in school.

Giving Back to NBLSA:
For every purchase made through Ashanti Scholar by using our special NBLSA Promotional Code, Ashanti Scholar will donate a portion of proceeds back to our national organization.
